How to Become a Member

  1. All people of Igbo origin by birth, adoption, or marriage, residing in Connecticut, are eligible for membership in the Igbo Kwenu association.
  2. Membership Structure—membership in the association is open to family units: father and/or mother, child or children; young adults above age 18; alumni parent(s).
  3. Membership is by invitation. A prospective member should have sponsor(s) prior to consideration for membership. Prospective members without a sponsor may be subject to a background check. A fee of one hundred and fifty dollars ($150) for the background check will be covered by that prospective member(s). This amount may change based on the cost of background checks.
  4. Upon joining, new members shall fill out a registration form before their first meeting. At their first meeting, new members will be introduced.
